Description
Umarex / VFC MP5 SD3 Early Type Gen.2 GBB is an officially licensed gas-powered airsoft submachine gun that combines the classic MP5 SD appearance, a stamped steel receiver and powerful blowback recoil. The Early Type model features a traditional MP5 lower receiver with an S-E-F fire selector and a retractable stock.
The most distinctive feature of the MP5 SD3 is its long suppressor-style front section and the surrounding polymer SD handguard. The compact construction, retractable stock and low profile make the gun easy to handle, particularly in indoor games and other confined playing environments.
Updated VFC Gen.2 GBB System
The Gen.2 version features a redesigned bolt assembly, a larger blowback cylinder, an updated recoil spring and an improved buffer assembly.
The gas-powered system cycles the bolt with every shot and produces clearly noticeable recoil. The gun is cocked using the charging handle on the left side of the receiver, just like its MP5 counterpart. The moving action and mechanically functioning controls provide significantly more realistic handling than a conventional electric airsoft gun.
Stamped and Welded Steel Receiver
The upper receiver is manufactured from stamped and welded steel components to replicate the construction of the MP5 firearm. The receiver features officially licensed H&K markings and realistic calibre markings. The magazine well is also constructed from stamped steel to replicate that of the 9 mm MP5.
The gun is disassembled using MP5-style H&K push pins, allowing the stock and trigger housing to be removed in the same manner as on the original firearm.
Early Type Controls
The Early Type version features a classic MP5 lower receiver. The steel fire selector has traditional S-E-F markings, with S indicating safe, E semi-automatic and F fully automatic fire.
The realistically reproduced fire control mechanism and controls make this model an interesting option for airsoft players, collectors and weapon handling training.
Realistic MP5 SD Front End
The gun features a perforated outer barrel assembly modelled after the MP5 SD and a long suppressor-style barrel shroud. The inner barrel extends into the barrel shroud, providing an inner barrel length of 330 mm despite the compact outer barrel assembly.
The polymer SD handguard protects the front assembly and provides the classic rounded grip profile of the MP5 SD. The barrel shroud is a cosmetic airsoft component designed to replicate the appearance of a suppressor and should not be confused with a real suppressor.
The top of the receiver is designed for MP5-style claw-mounted optic rails. A compatible MP5 optic rail, sold separately, allows accessories such as a red dot sight to be installed.
30-Round Gen.2 Gas Magazine
The gun includes a 30-round VFC Gen.2 gas magazine. The magazine has a steel outer shell with realistic markings. The redesigned gas outlet system is intended to improve gas flow and provide more consistent operation.
The magazine features a last-round detection mechanism. When the magazine is empty, the mechanism stops the gun from firing and replicates the operation of the real firearm with an empty magazine. This adds further realism to magazine changes and weapon handling.
Adjustable Hop-Up
The gun features an adjustable hop-up system that allows the BB trajectory to be fine-tuned according to the BB weight and playing conditions. A correctly adjusted hop-up helps provide a more consistent trajectory and better effective range.
