From airsoft players, for airsoft players

Atom Airsoft is an airsoft store based in Hämeenlinna, Finland, with roots firmly in the hobby. What began with Sakari’s interest in repairing and upgrading airsoft guns has grown from a garage-based business into the store and online shop we are today.

Although the company has changed a great deal over the years, the idea behind it remains the same: we want to help airsoft players find equipment that suits their needs and provide knowledgeable service to both newcomers and experienced players.

Explore the milestones below to see how Atom Airsoft became what it is today.

FROM 2009 TO TODAY

Our story

From a school project and a garage-based repair service to the airsoft store we are today. These are the milestones that shaped Atom Airsoft.

  1. 2009–2010

From a hobby to a business

Atom Airsoft began in 2009 when Sakari Vyyryläinen founded Atom Airsoft NY as a school-based youth enterprise. He had already spent several years repairing airsoft guns, first at another company and later for friends. The new business focused on repairs, upgrades and importing spare parts from abroad.

When Sakari turned 18 in 2010, he established Atom Airsoft as a sole proprietorship so the business could continue. The work remained much the same, and the company operated from his parents’ garage.

The product range begins to grow

In 2011, Sakari purchased the bankruptcy estate of 6mm. The acquisition brought more products into the range, and airsoft guns and accessories became a larger part of the business alongside repairs and spare parts.

As sales grew, Atom began establishing more wholesale relationships to keep products in stock. The business was still run from the garage, but it was gradually becoming much more than a repair service.

  3. 2014

A limited company — and out to the airsoft fields

In 2014, Atom Airsoft became a limited company, Atom Airsoft Oy, after operating as a sole proprietorship since 2010.

In May of that year, Sakari bought a small van and began travelling to airsoft fields around Finland to sell products directly to players. The van also carried a diving cylinder, allowing Atom to provide compressed air for players using HPA equipment.

Meeting customers at the fields was already part of the business before the first physical store opened.

    Our first store in Hämeenlinna

In 2015, Atom Airsoft opened its first store on Aulangontie in Hämeenlinna. Although it was called a showroom, customers could visit, browse products and purchase them directly at the checkout.

At the time, Sakari was still studying while running the business, with a few part-time airsoft enthusiasts helping when needed. The showroom gave the growing online store and repair business a place to serve customers face to face.

  5. 2017

A bigger store and a growing team

In 2017, Atom moved to a larger store as the previous premises were due for demolition and the business needed more space.

The move also marked a change in how the company operated. Sakari was no longer studying as his main occupation, and the business needed employees who could be involved in day-to-day operations. Two permanent employees started around this time.

With more people working together, the product range, stock and business began growing faster than before.

    Atom Airsoft today

In 2021, Atom Airsoft moved to its current premises on Sähkömestarintie in Hämeenlinna. The larger store and adjoining warehouse provided more room for both the physical shop and online operations.

Today, Atom Airsoft employs four full-time employees, along with a few part-time employees throughout the year. During the summer, the team is also joined by two full-time summer employees.

Although the business has grown far beyond the garage where it started, airsoft remains at the heart of what we do. We want to help both new and experienced players find equipment that suits their needs. From airsoft players, for airsoft players.
