Description
Specna Arms MG42 RETRO AEG Machine Gun (X-ASR/Tracer)
A full-size historical support weapon replica with a predominantly metal construction, 2500-round magazine, folding bipod, quick spring-change system, GATE X-ASR MOSFET and an included tracer unit.
The Specna Arms MG42 RETRO AEG Machine Gun belongs to the Specna Arms Retro series developed in cooperation with S&T/AGM. The series is aimed at airsoft players, collectors and historical re-enactment enthusiasts who appreciate iconic military designs and detailed reproductions of weapons from previous decades.
The historical MG42 was developed for German forces during the Second World War. Its exceptionally high rate of fire, approximately 1,200 rounds per minute in the original firearm, created a distinctive sound and made the machine gun one of the most recognizable support weapons of the era.
The design was developed at the Großfuß factory, whose previous experience focused on industrial metal products rather than conventional firearms. Its expertise in mass-production and stamped-metal manufacturing contributed to a design that could be produced efficiently while remaining highly effective.
The Specna Arms airsoft version recreates the long receiver, perforated barrel shroud, prominent muzzle assembly, wooden stock and folding bipod associated with the historical MG42. Its size, weight and high-capacity magazine make it particularly suitable for defensive positions, squad support and historical scenario games.
Full-size support weapon construction
The replica is manufactured mainly from aluminium and steel, with additional polymer and wooden components. The muzzle device, outer barrel, barrel shroud, bolt cover and receiver are made from aluminium.
Steel is used for the muzzle-device lock, the side latch beside the barrel-change opening, screws, pins, magazine, magazine catch, dummy charging handle and bipod. The barrel-change opening and its latch reproduce the appearance of the original mechanism, but the outer barrel cannot be removed through this opening.
With an overall length of approximately 1230 mm and a weight of around 6.56 kg, the MG42 RETRO is a large and substantial airsoft replica. It is best suited to deliberate support-gunner use rather than fast-paced CQB, although its imposing construction makes it a distinctive choice in any game environment.
Included tracer unit
The included tracer unit illuminates compatible fluorescent tracer BBs as they are fired. It also simulates a muzzle-flash effect, adding a striking visual element to sustained fire.
The effect is especially visible during indoor games, low-light scenarios and night games. A USB-C charging cable is included for charging the tracer unit. Fluorescent tracer BBs are required for the illumination function and are sold separately.
GATE X-ASR MOSFET
A factory-installed GATE X-ASR MOSFET helps protect the replica’s electrical components and reduces the electrical load placed on the mechanical trigger contacts. It also improves trigger response and can help extend the service life of the wiring and battery when the replica is used correctly.
Built-in indicator LEDs allow basic electrical faults to be diagnosed. The included GATE X-ASR diagnostic card helps interpret the indicator signals and makes basic troubleshooting easier.
Full-automatic fire and quick spring change
The MG42 RETRO uses a special gearbox and operates in full-automatic mode. The advertised muzzle velocity is approximately 113 m/s (370 FPS) with a 0.20 g BB.
The replica features a quick spring-change system, making it easier to adjust the power level when a suitable replacement spring is installed. Any change should be followed by chronograph testing to ensure compliance with local field limits.
An adjustable hop-up allows the BB trajectory to be tuned according to the selected BB weight and playing conditions. The replica is equipped with a 585 mm inner barrel.
2500-round magazine and folding bipod
The included magazine holds approximately 2500 BBs, providing the ammunition capacity required for a support-weapon role. The large capacity allows the user to maintain fire for considerably longer than with conventional rifle magazines.
A steel bipod is included and provides a stable firing position when the replica is used from the ground, behind cover or from a prepared defensive position. The combination of the bipod, long barrel assembly and high-capacity magazine makes the MG42 well suited to squad-support gameplay.
