Every airsoft tech can relate to that victorious feeling when, after a tuning session, the replica’s sound is a crisp, clean, and immediate cycle. The spring plays the most important role in building the replica’s performance; it generates consistent muzzle energy and determines the load on the motor.
Atom Custom Momentum springs are linear springs made from high-quality spring steel. A linear spring provides consistent muzzle velocity and an even load on the motor regardless of how much the spring is compressed. A linear spring also limits overspin better than a non-linear spring, as it absorbs more of the gear train and motor’s excess kinetic energy at the early stage of compression compared to a non-linear design. For this reason, a linear spring reduces overspin more effectively than non-linear springs. We particularly favor linear springs because they are best suited for pre-cocking setups; the AEG spring defines the demands on the motor, which affects the replica’s rate of fire and trigger response. The benefits of a linear spring are most evident in pre-cocked builds, as the load it creates remains consistent; this minimizes stress on the motor at all times. In turn, this extends the motor’s lifespan and improves battery efficiency.
Momentum AEG springs are especially suitable for electric replicas, as they work well even with high-torque motors. Their linear design helps reduce the overspin often caused by powerful motors. When tuning an AEG, a linear spring allows you to keep the load generated by the spring as low as possible throughout every stage of the cycle.
The power ratings of the springs are indicative. The actual output depends on factors such as the amount of pre-compression, barrel length, BB weight and surface quality, as well as the airseal of the replica’s internals.
