Novritsch SSQ4 Gas Blowback Rifle
The Novritsch SSQ4 Gas Blowback Rifle is a full-metal GBBR combining realistic blowback and recoil with modern internals, adjustable power and practical airsoft features. This version is the standard Semi & Full Auto gas model, configured to approximately 1.4-1.6 J out of the box and supplied with a 32 BB gas magazine.
The SSQ4 is built around a compact half-bolt system that reduces moving mass and bolt travel. This improves gas efficiency while producing a fast and responsive blowback action. The rifle also features an integrated NPAS power adjustment system, tool-less TDC hop-up adjustment, steel controls and trigger components, and fully ambidextrous operation.
Gas Blowback with a half-bolt system
The SSQ4 uses a gas blowback operating system that moves the bolt with every shot and produces noticeable recoil. Instead of a traditional full-length AR-style bolt, Novritsch uses a shorter half-bolt design.
The reduced moving mass improves gas efficiency and shortens the bolt cycle, resulting in a fast and snappy shooting feel. The design also removes the functional need for a conventional buffer tube, allowing the rifle to be converted to a Picatinny-mounted folding stock configuration with separately available parts.
Adjustable NPAS power system
The nozzle contains an integrated NPAS valve that controls gas flow and therefore the rifle's muzzle energy. Power can be adjusted with the supplied Allen key without changing internal springs or valves.
This rifle is supplied configured to approximately 1.4-1.6 J. Novritsch specifies an overall adjustable range of approximately 1-2.5 J depending on the setting, gas, temperature and BB weight.
The pistol grip contains an internal magnet for storing the NPAS adjustment Allen key, keeping the tool conveniently available when needed.
Tool-less TDC hop-up adjustment
The SSQ4 features a TDC hop-up adjustment wheel recessed into the top rail. The wheel can be reached directly from above without disassembling the rifle while remaining low enough not to interfere with accessories mounted on the rail.
The hop-up system uses a Maple Leaf 60° bucking designed to provide sufficient grip for heavier BBs.
32 BB gas magazine
This Gas version is supplied with a 32 BB gas magazine. The relatively low real-cap-style capacity complements the realistic GBBR operating system and encourages magazine handling similar to a real rifle.
The gas magazine uses a single-stage filling valve.
Storage note: leave a small amount of gas in the magazine during storage to keep the seals lubricated and lightly pressurised. Do not store the magazine completely empty or expose it to excessive heat.
Semi and full-auto fire
This is the standard SSQ4 configuration with both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire modes. Novritsch specifies a rate of fire of approximately 20 rounds per second under suitable operating conditions.
Full-metal construction and steel controls
The SSQ4 has a solid full-metal construction with a distinctive bronze finish. Important operating components, including the controls and trigger-group parts, are made from steel to reduce wear and provide a crisp and durable operating feel.
Completely ambidextrous controls
The primary controls are duplicated on both sides of the rifle. This makes the SSQ4 suitable for both right- and left-handed players and also makes it easier to operate when switching shoulders during a game.
Ready for different configurations
The SSQ4 can be adapted for different roles. Its 14 mm CCW muzzle thread accepts compatible suppressors and muzzle devices, while the handguard provides attachment slots and the receiver has a continuous top rail for optics and accessories.
A separately available Picatinny stock conversion kit can replace the original buffer-tube arrangement, allowing compatible Picatinny stocks and folding hinges to be installed.
The SSQ4 platform can also be converted from Gas Blowback to HPA using the separately available SSQ4 HPA components.

Important operating notes
- Novritsch recommends a break-in period of approximately 200 BBs before the rifle fully settles in.
- Avoid pulling the trigger without a magazine inserted. On the Gas version, the magazine supports the valve knocker and helps reduce unnecessary wear.
- Performance and muzzle energy of a gas-powered rifle vary with gas type, temperature, magazine temperature, BB weight and NPAS setting.
