The Sturmgewehr 44 (StG44, MP43, MP44) is an assault rifle designed by Hugo Schmeisser. In many ways, the StG44 represents a new era in small arms: designed in 1944, it is considered the world’s first true assault rifle. Its development was driven by the Germans’ need during World War II to find a replacement for heavy, long-range rifles, as battlefield experience showed that the benefits of long-range fire were limited.
The AGM StG44 airsoft replica is, like its real-life counterpart, one of a kind—no other airsoft manufacturer makes an StG44-style replica. The stock is made from sturdy wood and the receiver is metal. Although the metal construction and the gun’s relatively heavy weight (over 4 kg) suggest durability, the reality is somewhat different. The body is made from low-quality cast metal, which does the job as long as the gun is handled gently. We recommend this replica especially for WWII enthusiasts who want an StG-style rifle for their collection or even as a wall-hanger. If you’re looking for a more unusual primary for gameplay and external realism isn’t a priority, we recommend choosing a different model.
Internally, the gun uses a Version 2 gearbox and an M4-style hop-up unit. Thanks to these, the AGM StG44 can deliver solid performance, and technically it can be a very capable skirmish gun for a WWII hobbyist who appreciates the model.
