Description
The Polarstar Kythera HPA system represents a completely new direction compared to all previous systems produced by PolarStar, as Kythera does not use batteries, an FCU, or any electronics. Kythera is fully mechanical. This means you don’t have to worry about charging batteries or handling delicate electronic components. It also means the system is completely submersible. Kythera is designed with exceptional ingenuity, achieving its functions with a very small number of parts.
Realistic Trigger
The Kythera system was designed from the ground up to deliver a realistic trigger feel. The trigger mechanism is engineered to replicate the function, weight, and feel of a real single-action firearm trigger. It feels authentic because it is authentic. Hardened alloy steel sears engage a stainless steel valve, and when the trigger is pulled, the machined components release it in the same way a real firearm’s sear releases the hammer. This gives the Kythera trigger a distinct take-up and break point. The Kythera SA trigger mechanism also includes fine adjustment options to tune trigger pull weight and travel. The firing mechanism is spring-driven, so the trigger pull is not affected by the regulator pressure.
Perfect Firing Cycle
The design of the Kythera SA ensures a complete firing cycle with every trigger pull. This provides closed-bolt performance, proven to deliver excellent consistency and accuracy in Fusion Engine and F2 systems. Kythera offers the same performance in a fully mechanical, waterproof package with a realistic trigger. Kythera does not require the trigger to be released before the nozzle chambers the next shot and refills the internal air chamber for the next cycle. This happens automatically and consistently with every shot. The nozzle’s movement is not tied to the trigger pull; its dwell time in the forward position and return speed to the rear can be adjusted independently.
Since the system resets and recharges immediately after firing, it is ready to shoot again before the trigger is released from the previous shot. This makes double-feeding extremely unlikely.
Exceptional Efficiency and Consistency
The Kythera valve design operates without the need to control the opening or closing of the valve. Excluding the small pilot valve that positions the main valve, 100% of the air supplied to the system is discharged through the nozzle, meaning all the air is used to propel the BB rather than cycle the mechanism. In addition, the system operates with extreme consistency. The valve releases at the same point and with the same force on every shot, regardless of trigger pull.
Universal Charging Cord
The steel cable visible at the rear of the Kythera system is connected to the internal valve charging mechanism. Normally, pressure from the regulator automatically charges the valve. The charging cable is included so that if the input pressure drops too low to cock the valve, it can be manually charged using the cable. This typically only occurs if the system has been completely depressurized, dropping below its operating range. The cable is designed to be stored in an easily accessible location inside the receiver or attached to the rifle’s charging handle.
Easy Installation
The Kythera SA system installs as a single unit inside a standard gearbox shell and usually requires no modifications to the shell. No separate components need to be installed inside the gearbox, and the only original parts that must be retained are the trigger, spring guide, selector, and safety components.
Wide Velocity and Power Adjustment Range
Kythera operates within a wide pressure range of 60 psi to 180 psi, allowing fine-tuning of output power for different applications. Within this range, the rifle can be set to shoot 82–152 m/s with a 6.05x380 mm barrel and 0.20 g BBs. This allows a single Kythera to be used in any role, from CQB to sniper, by adjusting the air rig’s input pressure.
