The WE E99 replicates the German Walther P99 semi-automatic pistol. The P99 was developed as a new-generation sidearm, with design work starting in 1994 and completed three years later when the pistol was released in 1997. The P99 design proved successful, as evidenced by its adoption by several official agencies. It was also selected as the service pistol for the Finnish Defence Forces’ special units and military police, under the designation PIST 2003 (Pistol 2003), following the naming convention of its adoption year.
The WE E99 combines a compact design with modern material choices, just like its real counterpart. The slide is made of metal, while the lower frame is constructed from high-quality, durable polymer. This combination provides a solid structure with moderate weight. The pistol grip is fully textured for improved handling and ergonomically shaped. A short rail section is located under the barrel for mounting a pistol light or laser sight. The magazine release is positioned at the junction of the trigger guard and grip, allowing ambidextrous operation. The replica also features a functional decocker mechanism, enabling the hammer to be released without pulling the trigger.
