Description
Siegetek Cyclone Revolution 13.76:1 DSG Gear Set, 8-Tooth (V6/V7) (GS-R2-C)
The Siegetek Cyclone Revolution 13.76:1 is a high-performance Dual Sector Gear (DSG) set designed for advanced Version 6 and Version 7 AEG builds where fast trigger response and high rates of fire are the priorities. Its 8-tooth dual-sector design cycles the piston twice per sector gear revolution, significantly shortening the time between shots. Precision CNC-machined nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel gears provide the strength and durability required for demanding high-speed gearbox configurations.
Unlike conventional gear sets, the Cyclone system uses two separate piston engagement sections on the sector gear. Combined with the fast 13.76:1 gear ratio, this allows extremely rapid cycling without requiring the motor to complete an entire sector gear revolution for every shot. The system is intended for experienced AEG builders who want to achieve performance beyond conventional gearbox configurations.
8-Tooth Dual Sector Gear Design
The Cyclone DSG sector gear features two sets of eight piston engagement teeth. Each section retracts and releases the piston during one half of the sector gear revolution, allowing two firing cycles per full revolution instead of one.
The shortened piston stroke reduces the distance the piston needs to travel, making faster cycling and improved trigger response possible. The design is particularly useful in high-speed AEG configurations where rapid semi-automatic operation and high rates of fire are important.
Siegetek recommends the Cyclone system for setups with inner barrels no longer than 363 mm. Because the shortened piston stroke reduces the available compression volume, a stronger spring is generally required to achieve muzzle energy comparable to a conventional full-stroke gearbox.
Revolution Design for Reliable Feeding and Semi-Automatic Operation
The Revolution sector gear features an enlarged tappet cam designed to increase the time the tappet plate and air nozzle remain retracted during the feeding cycle. This is especially important in DSG configurations, where the much shorter time between shots places greater demands on nozzle timing and reliable BB feeding.
The dual-sector design also incorporates a half-cycle cut-off system to retain semi-automatic firing capability. Proper operation depends on correct gearbox assembly, cut-off lever engagement and the compatibility of the trigger control system.
CNC-Machined High-Strength Steel Gears
Siegetek manufactures its gears from high-strength nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel using precision CNC machining. This material and manufacturing process are intended to withstand the substantial mechanical loads generated in upgraded AEG gearboxes, particularly when combining powerful springs with high operating speeds.
The gears feature a manganese phosphate surface treatment that helps retain lubricant on the gear surfaces. Proper lubrication reduces friction and wear during operation, while the robust gear tooth geometry supports reliable power transmission under demanding loads.
Designed for Advanced V6 and V7 Gearbox Builds
The Cyclone Revolution is designed for compatible Tokyo Marui-specification V6 and V7 gearboxes, including suitable Thompson and M14-type AEG configurations. It is not a direct drop-in replacement for a conventional gear set.
Although the gears are designed around the V6/V7 platform, gearbox dimensions and internal components can differ between manufacturers. Compatibility with non-Tokyo Marui-specification gearboxes must be checked before installation.
Siegetek's Cyclone installation guide specifies several important requirements:
- Compatible Tokyo Marui-specification V6 or V7 gearbox
- Inner barrel length of 363 mm or less
- Strong motor equipped with neodymium or samarium-cobalt magnets
- Battery capable of at least 30 A continuous discharge
- Electronic control components capable of handling the electrical demands of the build
- Piston with a suitable steel tooth rack, preferably a hardened full-steel rack
- Modification of the tappet plate and piston for DSG operation
- Properly lubricated hardened bushings or suitable large-diameter bearings
The shortened piston stroke requires particular attention to spring selection, piston return speed and compression volume. Siegetek also offers optional piston spacers and spring guide spacers to adjust spring pre-compression in compatible DSG builds.
Piston spacers and spring guide spacers must not be used together. Incorrect installation can cause serious gearbox damage.
Correct gear shimming, piston Angle of Engagement (AoE), tappet plate timing and piston tooth modifications are essential for reliable operation. Siegetek does not recommend ball bearings of 7 mm or smaller for the Cyclone system.
