The Vector Optics Frenzy 1x17x24 is a compact open reflex red dot sight designed for pistols, rifles and other shooting platforms. Its 3 MOA red dot, clear 17 × 24 mm viewing window and durable 6061-T6 aluminium construction make it a practical choice for fast target acquisition and precise aiming. The TEK (Docter/Noblex) footprint allows installation on compatible pistol mounting plates, while the included Weaver mount makes the sight ready for use on suitable airsoft rifles.
The Frenzy combines a compact design with the durability required for real firearm use. Its multi-coated lens, adjustable illumination and IPX6 water resistance make it suitable for a variety of shooting conditions, from indoor CQB environments to outdoor airsoft games.
Clear 3 MOA Red Dot and Adjustable Brightness
The Frenzy features a 3 MOA red dot that provides a balance between rapid target acquisition and precise aiming. The relatively small aiming point covers less of the target than larger dots, making it suitable for close-range engagements as well as more deliberate shooting at longer distances.
The 17 × 24 mm viewing window and multi-coated lens provide a clear sight picture. Unlimited eye relief allows the optic to be used comfortably with both eyes open, helping maintain awareness of the surrounding environment while aiming.
Brightness can be adjusted through 10 settings using the buttons on the side of the sight. Eight levels are intended for daylight use, while two additional settings are compatible with night vision equipment.
Long Battery Life and Automatic Shut-Off
The Frenzy uses a CR2032 battery, with a manufacturer-rated operating time of up to 50,000 hours at the lowest visible brightness setting. Actual battery life depends on the selected brightness and operating conditions.
The sight features a four-hour automatic shut-off function that helps prevent unnecessary battery consumption if the optic is accidentally left switched on.
Unlike the Frenzy-S SCRD-43 and SCRD-M43 models, the SCRD-19II does not feature motion-activated operation. The automatic shut-off function is not the same as a motion sensor, and the sight does not automatically reactivate when moved.
TEK Footprint - Docter/Noblex Compatibility
The Frenzy SCRD-19II uses the Vector Optics TEK footprint, which corresponds to the Docter/Noblex mounting standard. This footprint is commonly used for pistol red dot sights and features four locating recesses and two mounting screw holes.
The sight can be installed on compatible TEK/Docter mounting plates, including the following Vector Optics pistol adapters:
- Vector Optics SCRDM-01 - Glock G17 and compatible Glock rear sight dovetails
- Vector Optics SCRDM-02 - M1911 pistols with compatible rear sight dovetails
- Vector Optics SCRDM-03 - SIG Sauer P226 pistols with compatible rear sight dovetails
The TEK footprint is also compatible with the Docter/Noblex mounting standard used by several other optic manufacturers. The exact dimensions and mounting screw compatibility should still be checked when using third-party mounts.
The TEK footprint is not directly compatible with Vector Optics MGT (Shield RMSc/SMS) or MOJ (Trijicon RMR) mounting plates. For example, Frenzy-S SCRD-43 and SCRD-M43 use the smaller MGT footprint, while Frenzy FLEX SCRD-36 uses the MOJ footprint. These sights require different mounting plates.
A Weaver rail mount is included, allowing the Frenzy to be installed on compatible 21 mm Weaver/Picatinny accessory rails without purchasing a separate optic mount.
When installing the sight on an airsoft pistol, check the slide and mounting plate dimensions carefully. Pistol mounting plates are often designed for real firearms, and compatibility with airsoft replicas cannot be guaranteed solely by the pistol model designation.
Durable Aluminium Construction
The sight housing and included mount are manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with a matte black finish. This provides a robust construction designed to withstand recoil and repeated use while maintaining a compact profile.
The Frenzy has an IPX6 water resistance rating, providing protection against powerful water jets and heavy rain. Its construction is also designed to withstand recoil from real firearms, including 9 mm pistols, 12-gauge shotguns and high-powered rifles.
Windage and elevation adjustments provide a 45 MOA adjustment range in each direction, allowing the optic to be zeroed for the intended shooting distance.
