The Maple Leaf 2021 Super Macaron bucking represents an updated version of its product line. In the 2021 series, the hop-up bucking material has been changed to a silicone-based compound, which improves performance in varying temperatures. The 2021 hop-up buckings stand out especially in cool or cold conditions, as silicone retains its elasticity even in low temperatures.
The Maple Leaf 2021 Super Macaron hop-up buckings are based on the proven design solutions of the earlier Super Macaron model. Additionally, the hardness of the bucking can be easily identified by its color. The Super Macaron features special grooves on the outside designed to improve the seal between the hop-up chamber and the bucking.
In airsoft guns, a standard round nub does not work optimally with Maple Leaf’s new hop-up buckings equipped with an elongated contact patch, as a point-shaped nub bends the contact area of the bucking into a curve. This prevents full utilization of the MR hop’s extended contact surface and may cause the bucking to deform into an unintended position. We recommend using a Maple Leaf curved nub or a curved adjustment arm with MR hop for optimal performance. For GBB pistols, it is advisable to use the Maple Leaf I-Key nub.
Hop-up Bucking Hardness Rating
The hardness rating indicates the softness of the bucking. The lower the rating, the softer the bucking. Different hardness levels perform differently across various power ranges. In other words, the hardness rating can serve as a guideline when selecting a suitable bucking for an airsoft gun based on its power. As a rule of thumb, the more powerful the gun, the harder the hop-up bucking should be. The table below shows the Taiwanese manufacturer’s own recommendations for bucking suitability in different power classes.
| Hardness and Color |
Recommended Power Range |
| 50 – Green |
Below 110 m/s (1.2 J) |
| 60 – Yellow |
90-120 m/s (0.8-1.5 J) |
| 70 – Blue |
120-150 m/s (1.2-2 J) |
| 80 – Red |
140+ m/s (over 1.8 J) |
