Tokyo Marui shotguns have always been in a class of their own in the airsoft market. For a long time, Marui’s spring-powered shotguns were the only airsoft shotguns capable of firing multiple BBs at once. Marui has steadily updated its lineup, and the M870 gas shotgun series has once again taken airsoft shotgun performance to a new level. Compared to the older spring-powered models, the major improvement is the gas operation!
Like the older Marui shotguns SPAS-12 and Benelli M3, these new models also use the same shell-style magazines that hold 30 BBs. Thanks to the gas system, cycling the shotgun is lighter since the BBs’ energy is generated by gas instead of a spring. A single gas tank fill allows for approximately 60 shots.
Another major upgrade for Marui shotguns is the full-metal construction. Only the stock and pump handle are made of polymer, just like the real counterparts. The third improvement is the selectable firepower. Older models always fired 3 BBs (each from its own barrel). The new gas shotguns can fire either 3 or 6 BBs at a time. The user can select this setting from behind the shell port.
As with the SPAS-12 and M3, the new gas shotguns also feature a fixed hop-up, which performs best with either 0.20g or 0.25g BBs depending on the gas used. The package includes one original Marui shell.
The Marui M870 comes equipped with iron sights and a mounting rail for an optical sight if desired.
