The first teeth of the piston are made from strong, laterally reinforced, slightly flexible plastic. There is plenty of material behind the first tooth for added durability. The second tooth has been pre-removed to make angle of engagement adjustment easier.
Fiber-reinforced nylon, alongside polyacetal (POM), is one of the best materials for manufacturing AEG pistons, as it withstands stress well and is technically suitable for production. A piston made from fiber-reinforced nylon is significantly more durable than those made from polycarbonate, as the fiber-reinforced material allows slight flex under stress, whereas polycarbonate pistons tend to crack.
