Description
Specna Arms Aether™ V2 Complete Gearbox with HAL™ ETU
The Specna Arms Aether™ V2 Complete Gearbox with HAL™ ETU is a reinforced, fully assembled gearbox based on the internal system used in the Specna Arms PRIME™ series. It combines a reinforced Aether™ gearbox shell, CNC-machined 16:1 steel gears, upgraded compression components and a factory-installed HAL™ electronic trigger unit. With programmable firing modes, adjustable trigger sensitivity and pre-cocking, it provides a versatile foundation for compatible V2 AEG builds.
The Aether™ gearbox has been developed with durability, maintenance and customisation in mind. Its reinforced construction and practical inspection features are complemented by the HAL™ ETU, which allows players to customise the trigger response and firing behaviour without an external programming device.
Reinforced Aether™ V2 Gearbox Shell
The Aether™ gearbox shell features additional reinforcement in areas subjected to high mechanical stress. Its design includes several maintenance and adjustment features that make the gearbox particularly interesting for players and technicians who regularly work on AEG internals.
- Reinforced gearbox shell with design registration number 015044865-0001
- Anti-reversal latch release window for easier gearbox maintenance
- Inspection windows for checking pre-cocking and piston Angle of Engagement (AoE)
- Reinforcements around critical stress points
- Inspection window for checking the bevel gear
- Mechanical trigger adjustment function
- Screw holes for adjusting and aligning the gearbox shell position
The inspection windows allow important aspects of gearbox operation to be checked without fully disassembling the assembly. The anti-reversal latch release window is particularly useful when servicing the gearbox or releasing spring tension during maintenance.
Upgraded Internal Components
The gearbox comes assembled with reinforced internal components selected for durability and efficient operation. CNC-machined steel gears with a 16:1 ratio provide a balance between trigger response and mechanical performance, while the compression components are designed to support consistent air sealing.
The gearbox includes the following installed components:
- Reinforced polymer piston with a full-length steel tooth rack
- Aluminium piston head, cylinder head and nozzle
- Steel cylinder
- Steel spring guide with bearings
- CNC-machined steel gears with a 16:1 gear ratio
- 8 mm J-Cage ball bearings for the bevel and sector gears
- 8 mm solid bushings for the spur gear
- Trigger manufactured by Mancraft
- Factory-installed HAL™ ETU electronic trigger unit
HAL™ ETU - Programmable Electronic Trigger System
The HAL™ (Electronic Trigger Unit) uses magnetic Hall-effect sensors for trigger detection and an optical gear detection system to monitor gearbox operation. Unlike conventional mechanical trigger contacts, the magnetic sensor does not require physical contact to detect trigger movement, reducing mechanical wear and allowing more precise trigger control.
The system offers several programmable functions that allow the player to adjust the firing characteristics to suit different preferences and playing styles. Programming is performed directly through the trigger and fire selector, without requiring a separate programming card or computer.
Adjustable Trigger Sensitivity and Pre-Cocking
The HAL™ system allows trigger sensitivity to be adjusted in five levels, from 20% to 100% of the trigger travel. A shorter activation distance can provide a more responsive trigger feel, while a longer pull offers a more deliberate activation point.
The Aether™ gearbox also features mechanical trigger travel adjustment, allowing the trigger movement to be fine-tuned further.
Pre-cocking can be adjusted in six levels. This function controls how far the piston is pulled back and held after the firing cycle, allowing the next shot to be released with less mechanical delay.
- Trigger sensitivity: 5 levels (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%)
- Pre-cocking: 6 levels, from the released piston position to a rearward pre-tensioned position
- Mechanical trigger travel adjustment for additional fine-tuning
These adjustments are especially useful for players who prefer a short and responsive semi-automatic trigger or want to fine-tune the operating characteristics of an upgraded AEG.
Programmable Firing Modes
The HAL™ ETU allows the firing modes assigned to the SEMI and AUTO selector positions to be customised independently.
AUTO selector position:
- Full Auto - Continuous automatic fire while the trigger is held
- Semi-Auto - One shot per trigger pull
- 3-Round Burst - Three shots per trigger pull
- 5-Round Burst - Five shots per trigger pull
SEMI selector position:
- Semi-Auto - One shot per trigger pull
- Binary Trigger - One shot when the trigger is pulled and another when it is released
- AUG Mode - Partial trigger pull for semi-automatic fire and full trigger pull for automatic fire
- Sniper Mode - Semi-automatic fire with a 2-second delay between shots and an audible indication when the next shot is available
The Sniper mode can be useful when configuring a replica for game formats requiring a delay between shots. AUG mode requires the trigger adjustment screw to be in its neutral position, as specified in the HAL™ manual.
Active Brake and Electronic Protection
The HAL™ ETU includes an adjustable active brake function that stops the motor after a firing cycle. This helps reduce unwanted gearbox overspin, particularly in configurations with fast motor and gear combinations.
The electronic system also includes protective functions that monitor voltage and abnormal gearbox operation. The HAL™ ETU can interrupt operation and issue an alarm if certain limits or operating faults are detected.
- Active brake: ON / OFF
- Low-voltage protection and warning
- Overvoltage protection
- Overload protection if the firing rate exceeds 40 rounds per second
- Protection against abnormal gearbox operation
- Warning indication through three consecutive motor vibrations
- Compatibility with brushless motors
When using a brushless motor, the active brake function must be disabled according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Specna Arms recommends using an 11.1V LiPo battery for optimal HAL™ performance. The battery should always be disconnected when the replica is not in use, as the ETU continues to consume a small amount of power even in standby mode.
HAL™ Trigger Activation Before First Use
The HAL™ trigger must be activated before the gearbox is used for the first time. This is a normal commissioning procedure for the HAL™ ETU and is also required after restoring the factory settings.
- 1. Set the replica's fire selector to SAFE.
- 2. Connect the battery while the selector remains in SAFE.
- 3. Wait approximately 3 seconds until the replica emits a beep.
- 4. Pull the trigger fully and hold it for approximately 5 seconds.
- 5. A second beep confirms that trigger activation has been completed successfully.
After activation, the HAL™ system is ready for normal operation and programming.
Compatibility
The Aether™ gearbox is designed for the Specna Arms PRIME™ series and compatible airsoft replicas using a Version 2 gearbox. Compatibility with other V2 platforms depends on receiver dimensions, gearbox positioning and the surrounding components.
Correct installation and adjustment are important for reliable operation, particularly when combining components from different manufacturers.

Asennettiin Arcturuksen runkoon. Vaati aika paljon säätämistä dremelillä ja reikien tekoa piuhoille (tämä oli osittain tiedossa jo etukäteen). Kun saatiin paikoilleen niin toimii mainiosti. 0,25 kuulilla 1,9 joulea (vakiona M120 jousi). Laitettiin Specna Armsin M110 niin putosi jo 1,3 jouleen.
