Siegetek Cyclone Revolution Plus 10.78:1 DSG Gear Set, 9-Tooth (V2/V3)
The Siegetek Cyclone Revolution Plus 10.78:1 is a high-performance Dual Sector Gear (DSG) set designed for advanced V2 and V3 AEG builds where extremely fast trigger response and high rates of fire are the priorities. Its 9-tooth dual-sector design cycles the piston twice per sector gear revolution, significantly reducing the time required between shots. CNC-machined chromium-molybdenum steel construction provides the mechanical strength required for demanding high-speed gearbox configurations.
Unlike conventional gear sets, the Cyclone system uses a shortened piston stroke combined with two engagement sections on the sector gear. This allows two shots during each complete sector gear revolution instead of one. Combined with the aggressive 10.78:1 gear ratio, the Revolution Plus offers considerable performance potential for experienced AEG builders who want to push trigger response and rate of fire beyond conventional gearbox configurations.
9-Tooth Dual Sector Gear Design
The Cyclone DSG system features two sets of sector gear teeth, allowing the piston to be pulled back and released twice during each complete revolution. Each engagement uses a shortened piston stroke, reducing the distance the piston must travel during the firing cycle.
This design can provide significantly faster trigger response and a higher rate of fire than a conventional single-sector system. The shorter piston stroke also makes the Cyclone particularly suitable for compact AEG builds where the full air volume of a standard cylinder is unnecessary.
Siegetek recommends the Cyclone system for AEGs with inner barrels up to 363 mm in length. The shortened stroke produces less compression volume and requires a stronger spring to achieve muzzle energy comparable to a conventional full-stroke gearbox.
Revolution Plus Design for Improved Feeding
The Revolution Plus version features an enlarged tappet cam designed to increase the time the tappet plate and nozzle remain retracted during the feeding cycle. This is particularly important in DSG builds, where the considerably shorter time between shots makes correct nozzle timing and BB feeding essential.
The sector gear also features a half-cycle cut-off system designed to retain semi-automatic firing capability. Correct operation depends on the complete gearbox configuration and compatibility of the trigger control system.
CNC-Machined Chromium-Molybdenum Steel
Siegetek manufactures its gears from high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel using precision CNC machining. The construction is designed to withstand the substantial mechanical loads generated in upgraded AEG gearboxes, particularly those using powerful springs and rapid operating cycles.
The gear teeth are designed with a robust profile and increased contact surface compared with many conventional AEG gears. Precision manufacturing and carefully designed engagement surfaces support durability and consistent power transmission when the gears are correctly installed and lubricated.
Designed for Advanced High-Speed Builds
The Cyclone Revolution Plus is intended for experienced AEG builders and is not a direct drop-in replacement for a conventional gear set. A successful DSG build requires the motor, spring, piston, tappet plate, battery and electronic components to work together correctly.
Siegetek's Cyclone installation guide specifies several important requirements:
- Compatible Tokyo Marui-spec V2 or V3 gearbox with correctly dimensioned gear mounting points
- Inner barrel length of 363 mm or less
- Strong motor equipped with neodymium or samarium-cobalt magnets
- Battery capable of at least 30 A continuous discharge
- Suitably rated electronic control system for the electrical demands of the build
- Hardened full-steel-tooth piston rack recommended
- Modification of the tappet plate and piston for correct DSG operation
- Hardened bushings or suitable large-diameter bearings
The shorter piston stroke requires particular attention to spring selection, piston return speed and air volume. Siegetek also offers optional piston and spring guide spacers for adjusting spring pre-compression in compatible builds. These are separate accessories and should only be used according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Proper gear shimming, Angle of Engagement (AoE), piston tooth modification and nozzle timing must be checked during installation. Some gearbox shells may require additional fitting due to dimensional differences. Siegetek does not recommend small ball bearings of 7 mm or less for the Cyclone system.
