Novritsch SSR249 Machine Gun
The Novritsch SSR249 Machine Gun is an officially FN-licensed, steel-bodied M249-style airsoft support weapon designed from the ground up for sustained full-auto fire. This 1.4-1.6 J version combines a 2000-round electrically powered magazine, reinforced internals, CNC-machined TDC hop-up and approximately 20 rounds per second with an 11.1V LiPo battery. An additional 2 J spring is also included.
The SSR249 is built specifically around the machine gunner role. Instead of trying to behave like a conventional assault rifle, it offers full-auto-only operation, a large ammunition capacity and a robust drivetrain intended to withstand prolonged bursts. With a weight of approximately 5.8 kg unloaded and around 7 kg fully loaded, it also has the substantial feel expected from an M249-style support weapon.
2000-round electrically powered magazine
The included box magazine holds approximately 2000 BBs and uses an electrically powered feeding system to keep up with sustained full-auto fire. Novritsch has equipped the magazine with upgraded internals and a redesigned motor mounting system to provide smooth and consistent feeding.
The magazine has a separate compartment for its power source and requires one 9V battery, which is not included.
Full-auto only
The SSR249 has one fire mode: full-auto. This reflects its intended role as a support weapon, allowing the user to fire controlled bursts and provide sustained suppressive fire for the rest of the team.
Steel construction and realistic weight
The SSR249 features a solid steel main body designed to withstand demanding field use. Steel sling mounting points are located at both the front and rear of the replica.
The full-length outer barrel is machined from aluminium, while the rigid aluminium handguard provides a solid mounting platform for accessories. The bottom Picatinny rail is hard-mounted to minimise unwanted movement.
The handguard also houses the main battery. Access requires removing three screws, a design choice that allows the handguard to remain particularly solid once assembled.
Collapsible Para stock
The telescopic Para-style stock allows the SSR249 to be shortened from approximately 905 mm to 785 mm, making transportation and handling easier. The aluminium support rods are polymer-coated for smoother adjustment and to reduce scratching during use.
CNC-machined TDC hop-up
The SSR249 uses a CNC-machined rotary-style hop-up chamber with a TDC adjustment system. The design applies hop-up pressure vertically from above and helps maintain consistent BB placement throughout the adjustment range.
The chamber is paired with a hard TDC hop-up nub and a Maple Leaf Super Macaron 60° hop-up bucking.
6.03 mm inner barrel
A 350 mm long, 6.03 mm inner barrel is installed as standard. Two O-rings stabilise and centre the inner barrel inside the outer barrel, while locking points at the front and rear of the outer-barrel assembly help maintain alignment.
Reinforced internals for sustained full-auto fire
The gearbox is built with continuous full-auto use in mind. Its drivetrain combines CNC-machined steel gears, a full-steel-tooth piston rack and a high-torque motor with reinforced supporting components.
- 16:1 CNC-machined steel gears
- Piston with full steel tooth rack
- POM piston head
- POM cylinder head
- 8 mm bearings
- 24K high-torque motor with neodymium magnets
- Reinforced M249-style trigger switch assembly
The 24K high-torque motor produces a rate of fire of approximately 20 rounds per second when used with a suitable 11.1V LiPo battery.
Toolless quick spring exchange
The SSR249 features a toolless quick spring exchange system, making it considerably easier to change the main spring and adjust the muzzle energy than with many traditional machine-gun gearboxes.
This is the 1.4-1.6 J version of the SSR249. An additional 2 J spring is included in the package.
Battery and electrical system
The SSR249 is compatible with LiPo batteries and has a pre-installed T-Dean battery connector. Novritsch recommends an 11.1V LiPo battery for this model.
The main battery is located inside the handguard. The electrically powered box magazine uses a separate 9V battery.
The main battery, battery charger and the 9V battery required for the magazine are not included.
