Action Army AAP01 Gas Pistol, Semi Auto
The Action Army AAP01 is a lightweight and highly versatile gas blowback pistol with a distinctive design inspired by classic Ruger-style pistols and compatibility with G-series gas magazines. This version is semi-auto only, making it particularly suitable as a conventional sidearm as well as a platform for sport shooting and custom builds.
The AAP01 combines a rugged polymer upper and lower receiver with metal inserts at key working points. Instead of cycling a conventional full-size slide, the blowback system moves a compact internal bolt assembly. The low moving mass and short action give the pistol a fast and responsive cycling action, making quick follow-up shots easy.
Semi-auto only
This version of the AAP01 fires in semi-auto only. Each pull of the trigger fires one BB, making the pistol suitable for fields and game formats where full-auto pistols are not allowed or simply unnecessary.
Important: adjust the hop-up before first use
The AAP01 hop-up is typically set completely to zero at the factory. The hop-up should therefore be adjusted before the pistol is used for the first time.
With the hop-up at zero, the hop-up nub may not press the bucking far enough into the inner barrel to retain the BB. As a result, a loaded BB may roll through the barrel and fall out of the muzzle. This is normal and does not indicate a fault with the pistol.
Adjust the hop-up according to the instructions supplied with the pistol until the bucking applies enough pressure to hold the BB in the chamber. After this initial adjustment, fine-tune the hop-up according to the BB weight being used.
Fast and lightweight blowback system
The AAP01 uses a compact internal bolt instead of a conventional full-size moving slide. This keeps the moving mass low and gives the pistol a quick, snappy operating cycle while retaining noticeable gas blowback action.
The responsive system makes the AAP01 well suited to fast-paced gameplay as well as Action Air and other sport-shooting style applications.
Adjustable hop-up
The adjustable hop-up allows the BB trajectory to be tuned for different BB weights. Once correctly adjusted, the hop-up applies backspin to the BB and helps provide a flatter and more consistent flight path.
The AAP01 is also a very popular upgrade platform, with a wide selection of compatible hop-up, barrel, trigger, bolt and external upgrade parts available on the market.
G-series magazine compatibility
The AAP01 uses a G-series style gas magazine and is compatible with many magazines based on the same specification. The included Green Gas magazine has a capacity of 23 BBs.
Magazine compatibility may vary slightly between manufacturers, so fitment and feeding should always be checked when using aftermarket magazines.
Storage note: leave a small amount of gas in the magazine during storage to keep the seals lubricated and lightly pressurised. Do not store the magazine completely empty or expose it to excessive heat.
14 mm CCW muzzle thread
The end of the barrel features a standard 14 mm CCW thread. Compatible suppressors, tracer units and other muzzle accessories can therefore be installed without a separate threaded adapter.
Ready for accessories
The upper receiver features high-visibility fibre-optic sights and mounting points for separately available upper and lower accessory rails. These can be used to add accessories such as a red dot sight or weapon light.
The accessory rails are not included with the pistol.
Reversible magazine release
The lower receiver is shaped to provide a secure grip and features a reversible magazine release. The magazine release can be configured for either left- or right-handed operation.
Holster compatibility
The AAP01 is compatible with the Safariland 579 GLS holster, providing an additional option for carrying the pistol as a sidearm.
