The Rare Arms AR-I5 GBBER 14.5″ 2023 is the perfect gas-powered airsoft rifle for any player seeking an airsoft gun with highly realistic functionality. The Rare Arms AR-I5 GBBER 14.5″ (2023 version) includes numerous upgrades compared to previous model years. These improvements provide stronger buffer spring force, higher-quality materials, and many refined details. The 2023 version is built for reliability and durability. This airsoft rifle features Rare Arms’ third-generation shell-ejecting GBB system, known as the R-SYSTEM. It offers easier maintenance, better durability, and 30% more power compared to earlier generations. A signature feature of the R-SYSTEM is its adjustable gas flow, allowing the rifle’s operation to be fine-tuned for various weather conditions.
The AR-I5 GBBER 14.5″ receiver is made from strong, durable 7075 aluminum, ensuring a long service life. The polymer parts are made from a realistic composite material.
The rifle is powered by a 12 g CO2 cartridge installed inside the pistol grip. It can also be easily converted to operate with an external air tank using the separately sold HPA Input Hose Line Kit.

Known operating characteristics that may be mistaken for faults:
- Bolt lock operation with HPA: When the rifle is used with an external HPA setup, the bolt may not always travel far enough rearward to engage the bolt catch. This behaviour has been observed with an 850 PSI air supply and is related to the available operating pressure and resulting bolt travel. It does not necessarily indicate a fault in the rifle or bolt catch mechanism.
- Bolt lock operation with CO2: With a fresh 12 g CO2 cartridge, the bolt normally travels far enough rearward to lock open. As the cartridge is used and its pressure decreases, the bolt may no longer travel far enough to engage the bolt catch. This may begin to occur when approximately half of the cartridge has been consumed.
- CO2 cooling and performance drop: The CO2 cartridge becomes very cold during rapid or sustained firing. As the cartridge cools, gas pressure and muzzle energy may temporarily decrease. Allowing the cartridge and rifle to warm up between longer firing sequences helps restore more consistent operation.
- Active lubrication is required: The bolt and its metal contact surfaces require regular lubrication. Operating the rifle with insufficient lubrication increases friction and may produce metal particles or accelerate wear. Apply a suitable lubricant to the bolt movement and contact surfaces as part of routine maintenance.
- Occasional shell jams: Occasional shell ejection jams may occur if the bolt does not travel fully rearward. Reduced bolt travel can be caused by decreasing CO2 pressure, cooling during rapid firing, insufficient HPA operating pressure, increased friction or inadequate lubrication.
- Reusable shell lifespan: Rare Arms shells are reusable consumable parts. Plastic shells typically last approximately 5–10 ejection cycles before they may crack or break, while metal shells typically last approximately 30–40 ejection cycles. Actual lifespan may vary depending on handling, temperature, loading, lubrication and ejection conditions.
Due to its realistic shell-ejecting gas-blowback system, the Rare Arms AR-I5 requires more active maintenance, lubrication and adjustment than a conventional AEG or standard GBB airsoft rifle. Variations in bolt travel, bolt lock operation and shell ejection may occur depending on gas pressure, temperature, firing pace, lubrication and the selected power source.
