Description
Retro Arms 8 mm CNC Gearbox V2 with Quick Spring Change
The Retro Arms 8 mm CNC Gearbox V2 is a high-strength gearbox shell for compatible Version 2 AEG platforms. It is CNC-machined from EN AW 7075 T651 aluminium alloy, providing a precise and exceptionally robust alternative to conventional cast zinc-alloy gearbox shells.
The gearbox is designed around Tokyo Marui V2 dimensions and includes several details intended to make assembly, maintenance and tuning easier. It features 8 mm bearing seats, a rear-access quick spring change system, an AOE inspection opening and an anti-reversal latch release port.
CNC-machined 7075 aluminium construction
The shell is machined from a solid piece of EN AW 7075 T651 aluminium alloy. CNC manufacturing allows the two halves of the gearbox to be produced with precise dimensions and aligned using machined grooves and mating edges.
The 8 mm bearing seats have a nominal diameter of approximately 7.98 mm. The slightly undersized fit is designed to help prevent bearings from moving inside the shell, while chamfered edges make bearing installation easier.
Quick spring change system
The integrated quick spring change system allows the main spring to be removed through the rear of the gearbox without opening the gearbox shell. The spring guide is released by pressing it slightly inward and turning it with a suitable hex key.
This makes spring changes considerably faster and also reduces the need to disturb the rest of the gearbox internals when changing the replica's power level.
Designed for easier assembly and maintenance
Retro Arms has incorporated several small details into the gearbox shell to make assembly easier. Dedicated grooves help keep the tappet plate spring, switch spring, safety components and trigger spring in position while the gearbox is being assembled.
An AOE inspection opening allows the position of the piston and sector gear to be checked without fully closing the gearbox. A separate opening also allows the anti-reversal latch to be released before disassembly, reducing spring tension inside the gearbox.
Improved wiring channels
The gearbox includes wiring channels designed for approximately 2.5 mm wiring. A protective edge helps keep the wiring away from the motor shaft and reduces the risk of the wires being damaged during operation.
Features
- CNC-machined Version 2 gearbox shell
- EN AW 7075 T651 aluminium alloy construction
- Designed for 8 mm bearings
- Approximately 7.98 mm bearing seats to minimise bearing movement
- Rear-access quick spring change system
- Machined alignment grooves between gearbox halves
- AOE inspection opening
- Anti-reversal latch release opening
- Grooves for retaining the tappet plate and switch springs during assembly
- Groove for retaining safety components during assembly
- Groove for retaining the trigger spring during assembly

Compatibility
- Version 2 AEG platforms
- Designed around Tokyo Marui-compatible V2 internal dimensions
- 8 mm gearbox bearings
Airsoft components from different manufacturers may have dimensional differences. Some fitting may therefore be required when combining this gearbox with non-Tokyo Marui-spec internal parts.
Important cylinder head compatibility
Do not use MAXX MODEL cylinder heads or similar cylinder heads that do not transfer the piston impact to the reinforced front face of the gearbox shell. The cylinder head locating pins are intended to position the cylinder head, not to absorb the piston impact. Using an incompatible cylinder head can damage the gearbox.
