The Specna Arms MP40 RETRO AEG Submachine Gun is part of the Specna Arms Retro series developed in cooperation with S&T/AGM. The collection is aimed at players, collectors and historical re-enactment enthusiasts who appreciate iconic military designs from previous decades. With its recognizable profile, metal construction and folding stock, this replica captures the appearance and handling character of one of the best-known submachine guns of the Second World War.
Despite being commonly referred to as a “Schmeisser” in popular culture, the historical MP40 was not designed by Hugo Schmeisser. The persistent nickname was partly encouraged by misleading markings found on magazines used with historical firearms. For enthusiasts of military history, the Specna Arms MP40 offers a distinctive platform with an appearance familiar from museums, films, games and historical photographs.
Historically inspired construction
The replica is built primarily from metal, giving it a solid weight of approximately 3.17 kg. The frame, barrel, sights, magazine well and bolt cover are manufactured from metal, while selected body components and the pistol grip panels are made from durable polymer.
The brown grip panels provide the traditional visual contrast associated with the MP40 platform. Combined with the metal receiver and long magazine, they give the replica an authentic historical appearance suited to Second World War-inspired loadouts and collections.
The characteristic metal stock can be folded underneath the replica for storage, transport and use in confined spaces. With the stock extended, the overall length is approximately 830 mm. Folding the stock reduces the length to approximately 630 mm, making the replica considerably more compact.
Semi-automatic and full-automatic fire
Unlike the historical firearm, the RETRO airsoft version offers both semi-automatic and full-automatic operation. The fire mode is selected through the charging-handle mechanism: changing the position of the charging handle allows the user to switch between individual shots and automatic fire.
This gives the replica more flexibility for modern airsoft use. Semi-automatic fire is useful for controlled engagements and fields with restricted fire modes, while full-automatic fire provides the traditional submachine-gun experience where local rules permit it.
GATE X-ASR MOSFET
The replica is equipped with a factory-installed GATE X-ASR MOSFET. The electronic module helps protect the electrical components, improves trigger response and reduces the electrical load placed on the mechanical trigger contacts. It can also extend the service life of the wiring and battery when the replica is used and maintained correctly.
Integrated diagnostic indicator lights can help identify basic electrical faults. A GATE X-ASR diagnostic card is included in the package to assist with interpreting the indicator signals.
Adjustable hop-up and 120-round magazine
The adjustable hop-up allows the BB trajectory to be tuned according to the selected BB weight and playing conditions. The replica has a 265 mm inner barrel and an advertised muzzle velocity of approximately 122 m/s (400 FPS) with a 0.20 g BB.
The included mid-cap magazine holds 120 BBs. Unlike a winding high-capacity magazine, a mid-cap magazine feeds through an internal spring and does not require winding during use. A BB speedloader is included to make loading the magazine easier.
