Description
Specna Arms Kar98K RETRO Bolt-Action Rifle - Real Wood
A spring-powered historical airsoft rifle with a real wood stock, metal construction, manual bolt action and a largely VSR-compatible power system.
The Specna Arms Kar98K RETRO Bolt-Action Rifle belongs to the Specna Arms Retro series developed in cooperation with S&T/AGM. The series is intended for airsoft players, collectors and historical re-enactment enthusiasts who appreciate iconic military designs and detailed reproductions of classic firearms.
The Kar98K is one of the most recognisable military rifles in history. Its distinctive silhouette and widespread use during the Second World War have made it familiar from historical photographs, museums, films and video games. This Specna Arms version focuses on authentic appearance, traditional handling and carefully selected materials.
Real wood stock and metal construction
The most prominent feature of the rifle is its real wood stock, which gives each individual piece a traditional appearance and natural feel. Because wood is a natural material, the grain pattern, shade and surface details may vary slightly between rifles.
Steel, aluminium and selected polymer components are used throughout the construction. The substantial weight of approximately 3,330 g and overall length of approximately 1,090 mm give the rifle a solid, historically inspired handling character.
The metal bolt features “byf 43” markings, adding an authentic visual detail. Mounting holes located beside the receiver allow a compatible scope mounting solution to be installed.
Manual bolt-action operation
The Kar98K is powered by a spring and must be manually cocked with the bolt before every shot. The deliberate operating sequence suits historical games, re-enactments and players who prefer carefully aimed single shots over rapid fire.
A safety catch is integrated into the bolt mechanism. The rifle also features a cocking-status indicator that shows whether the spring mechanism is cocked.
Largely VSR-compatible power system
The rifle uses several original internal components based on the widely used VSR system. This provides a more familiar basis for servicing and upgrading than a completely proprietary power system.
- 7 mm VSR-type mainspring
- 7 mm VSR-compatible spring guide
- 45-degree VSR-compatible piston
- 45-degree trigger mechanism based on VSR geometry
- VSR-compatible steel cylinder
- Standard VSR-compatible cylinder head
The original trigger mechanism differs from a conventional VSR trigger unit through an additional rear extension used by the rifle’s cocking-status indicator. A standard 45-degree VSR trigger unit may be mechanically compatible, but replacing the original unit is likely to disable the cocking-status indication.
The factory trigger and piston use a traditional 45-degree engagement. When replacing individual components, the piston and trigger mechanism must use matching engagement geometry.
Proprietary hop-up chamber
The hop-up chamber is specific to this Kar98K platform and is not a standard VSR chamber. TNT produces a dedicated aftermarket hop-up chamber designed specifically for this type of Kar98K rifle.
The adjustable hop-up allows the BB trajectory to be tuned according to the selected BB weight and playing conditions. The rifle has a 480 mm inner barrel and an advertised muzzle velocity of approximately 116 m/s (380 FPS) with a 0.20 g BB.
For the best practical accuracy, use high-quality BBs, adjust the hop-up carefully and select a BB weight appropriate for the rifle’s power level. Always confirm the measured muzzle energy and local field limits before use.
Practical 25-round magazine
The included low-cap magazine holds 25 BBs. Although the capacity is higher than that of the historical firearm, it is considerably more practical for airsoft and avoids the need for individual ejecting cartridges.
The magazine system allows the rifle to retain its historical appearance while remaining straightforward to load and operate during games and demonstrations.
