If the voltage drops below 3V per cell, irreversible chemical reactions occur inside the battery, reducing performance and potentially destroying the battery. During storage, a LiPo battery loses about 3–5% of its charge per month. For this reason, LiPo batteries should be recharged periodically during long-term storage to maintain their properties. A new unused LiPo battery is typically stored at about 70% of its total capacity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdditionally, cells must not be charged above 4.2 volts.
